Good, cheap advertising...or...internet litter?

There is debate about these ads nowadays. Are people sick of seeing them? Are they effective? We know of sites that host your ad for as little as $7 per month. At prices like that, they certainly are affordable. But, price isn't everything. You get what you pay for. In the end, it's results you're looking for.

You can get good results. Otherwise, you wouldn't see these ads everywhere. Follow a few suggestions to get more out of your advertising dollars.

Our best advice regarding these kinds of ads:

Look for sites with very few of them. This will help your ads stand out.

Use something well made. Stay away from those Click me, click me! kinds of ads.

Pay a little more to be seen on well respected sites. Download the Google Toolbar so you can check page ranks. Your ad will get more clicks on trusted sites.

Remember, placement counts. If your ad is buried all the way at the bottom of the page, or on some page that never gets seen, it probably isn't going to do you much good. Opt for good placement whenever possible.

Sell ad space on your website. It's a good way to even out your ad dollars. Make sure your advertisers don't compete with your business. You want their products to enhance yours.
