Of course you do! Everyone's got skills. But what can you do to improve your chances for success at online marketing? You're here, at this site, for one of two reasons-

You own a business and want to learn how to advertise it cheaply and effectively.
You'll soon own a business and want to learn how to advertise it cheaply and effectively.

Either way, you've got some skills, and I have to assume you're serious. So, let's examine some things you absolutely must know in order to keep your sanity!

Got skills on a computer? No? Then get em!

Many people who want to start up internet businesses don't actually know much about computers. If you can copy/paste, create a graphic and save it as a .jpg, or make a decent quality web video, you're probably ahead of the game. Feel free to skip this page. But, if you've got no skills, keep reading.

The ease and accessability of the internet has opened up a whole new world of opportunity for the average Joe/Jane. As you read this, hundreds of thousands of people are building/leasing their own websites. Every single one of them have dreams of quitting their day jobs to make their fortunes online. Here are their qualifications-

They own a computer
They play internet games
They have an email address...or two...or three
They belong to a social network like MySpace or YouTube

Here's the honest truth. One year from now, 99% of their websites won't exist! They will get frustrated at all the things they cannot do and don't want to learn. They may stay in business awhile, but they'll lose money paying for services that wouldn't be necessary if they'd just take the time to educate themselves.

Computer skills are at the top of that list! Your computer has, residing within it, almost all of the goodies you need to run a successful business.

Notepad is absolutely necessary if you plan on writing anything in .html.
Windows Movie Maker will save you from having to pay someone to create your video advertisements
XL Spreadsheets help you track your ad campaigns and keywords. You'll be importing and exporting information to them on a regular basis.
Photo editing software will help you create your own graphics for banners and buttons.

Learn how to use these things now and you'll get a bonus later. The bonus? For every piece of software loaded into your computer, there's a better one available somewhere online. A lot of them are FREE! But, you need to know how to use the basic stuff before you tackle the advanced stuff.

Getting to know your computer intimately just might be a most rewarding relationship. When you've got skills on the computer, you've got a foundation. A solid foundation makes building your business so much easier.

Players got skills in bucketfulls...

If you're serious about becoming an internet marketer, auction seller, service provider, or anything entrepreneurial, I encourage you to play! Play with the software on your computer. Play with interesting programs you find online. Play, play, play!

Starting, then running, a business is hard work. There will be days that will test your patience. You'll have to reign in your expectations, more than once. Nothing happens overnight. You have the power to make the whole process easier just by mastering the software already loaded in your computer!
