What is a redirect URL?
A redirect URL is a way to send your website visitors where you want them to go without using your whole domain name.
EXAMPLE:
Go down to the bottom of this page where it says "HOMEPAGE" and put your cursor over it. Click your right mouse button. A box will open up. Click on "properties". Another box will open up. If you look in that box you'll see that the actual address you are being sent to is http://www.advertise-ology101.com.
Why is this a useful tool?
Addresses to specific pages are usually very long. Most places you purchase ads limit the amount of characters you can use in the address. So, if you want to send your visitors to a certain place on your website, you have to shorten the address. This free service, called
Tiny URL
, let's you do that easily.
(As of April, 2008, Google Adwords no longer allows you to redirect. All destination URL's must match that of the landing page.)
