What is a web crawler?
A web crawler is a program that crawls, or browses, the internet looking for new content.

The "seeds" of success...
When you submit your homepage URL, or any other URL, you are sending the spider-bots a seed. The bot visits that URL and makes a list of any other addresses found on that page. It then crawls that list and makes lists of any addresses found on those pages. Consider creating and submitting a sitemap. This gets every link on your site to the bots at one time. However, if you are building links into all of your web pages, the crawler will find them all based on that first seed address. It'll just take a little more time.
Keep your content fresh...
Re-submit your site after making significant changes to your content. This will get the bots back again. They like fresh content. It's one of the things they use to measure your site's importance. So, keep the spiders happy!
