Who is Judy Malcolm?

Who is she? What is she all about? Why should I listen to anything she has to say?

"Who am I?" is a difficult question for most people to answer. I'm no different. I've spent most of my life just doing what needed done, when it needed done. I don't think there's anything remarkable in that.

Above everything, I'm a wife, mother, and grand-mother! My family is more important to me than anything else in my life. I don't consider myself remarkable, or above average, in any way. I graduated fifteenth in my class. I never went to college. I'm not one of those moms who is asked to speak on career day. Homemaker equals Ho-Hum to most kids. They don't want to hear about scrapbooking, cooking, or sewing!

My husband, who is in sales, switched jobs and took a pretty big pay-cut. I decided I was going to try to start some kind of small business of my own. I figured that was a way I could help out with the bills and still be home with my family. I didn't have any idea what kind of business I was going to try. I'd spent nearly 20 years packing lunches, bandaging boo-boo's, and folding endless loads of laundry. I was pretty sure that didn't qualify me for anything!

Just before my husband's pay cut, we bought a new computer. My friends used to tease me about the old one. They used to say "Judy's computer is so old she has to start it with a crank!". I have funny friends! Anyway, the new computer got me thinking. I knew people were making a living online. Why couldn't I? Scary idea, considering I didn't really know much about operating a pc. I'd only used the old one for typing and email. Pretty basic stuff.

I was also scared because I never went to college. I didn't have any kind of special training whatsoever that would qualify me to run my own business. I made a decision not to let that stop me, though. I started looking at online businesses right away.

That's when things started to get really, really crazy! The phone started ringing off the wall with salesmen trying to recruit me. I listened to all of them. I was looking for something that was "just right" for me. I even three-wayed my husband in on most of the calls. One particular call perked up our ears.

The salesman said I could work strictly from home. Big perk! That meant I could still be home with my family. He also said that with a one time investment of $329.00 I could build a residual income of over $10,000 a month. I was excited! Who isn't excited by the idea of lots, and lots, of money?

That meant vacations, new cars, all kinds of things we could never afford before. He explained how that happens and it seemed so logical. Please don't think we just sat there and listened. No, no. We asked questions. Lots of them! We wanted to be sure this was absolutely legitimate. We even put off giving an answer until we could do some more investigating on our own.

Everything seemed good. The health and wellness company he represented really was a solid one. I'd heard of it many years ago and had even taken some of their products. We were impressed and decided to signed up. That decision just about put my family into bankruptcy!

My first week I bought $4000.00 worth of inventory! Even though I had been told no further monetary investment was necessary. My supervisor, who is no longer working for the company, explained that this was a one time thing that would help me climb the company ladder faster. Again, it all sounded very logical. We didn't question it. It was all part of the plan to start building that residual income. My husband and I decided we would set aside one credit card to be used only for my business expenses.

Oh how I wish I could go back, shake myself, and say "Stop!".

That month, and every month after, I spent anywhere from $500.00 to $2,000.00 for leads. You know, people like me who wanted to start their own businesses online. So here I was trying to market supplements and sponsor new people into the business. I was on the phone constantly. I did everything I was told to do. I attended webinars. I signed up for extra trainings. I was so busy I could hardly breathe.

At the end of one year I had personally sponsored 15 new distributors and had brought in a grand total of $12,000.00. And, I only spent $27,000.00 getting there! None of my distributors was making any money either. I was sinking into a deep hole of debt fast. I was sick with worry. My husband and I decided it was time to pull out. There was just no way we could shoulder the expense any longer.

I won't be bad-mouthing that company. Truth is, the company is solid. Their products are great. It was me! I just didn't know what I was doing. Neither did anyone else! I was doomed from the beginning.

A member of my upline had sent me a link to a company called SBI. That link changed the way I do business online! Now, I actually make more money than I spend. Oh, I'm no multi-millionaire. Just a couple hundred here and a couple hundred there. But, thanks to SBI, I know how to keep it growing. I'm an affiliate marketer. I write articles. In fact, I'm involved in almost all of the things you'll read about at this website.

I could have built a website about scrapbooking, sewing, or cooking. I could even have built a movie review site or a website for fans of 80's rock music. Truth is, I probably will. It's something I've been keeping on the back burner. These are all the things I really like and any one of them would make a good second business for me.

I started with this site because I wanted to try and help people just like me who were looking to build a real business online. For me, it was about trying to help others stay away from the pitfalls I landed in.

SiteBuildIt taught me that there really is an easier way, a more logical way, to build an income online. I've learned things I thought it was impossible for a regular person to learn. I even write some of my own html code. You don't have to. I just do it because its fun. There's a lot about SBI site building that gets done for you. But you can take over the reigns any time you want to.

Until August of 2008, the only money I'd spent was the $299 fee for my SBI site! Recently I did spend some money doing some direct mailers for one of my affiliates. I'm still in the process of paying off my debts from the health and wellness fiasco, but at least now I know my family's future is bright! I don't sit and worry anymore. I bless my husband for standing behind me. I bless SBI for showing me how to build a real business of my own. I bless God for everything else!

One last comment...


I know it seems squishy and mushy listening to SBI owners talk about how it changed their lives and how their dreams are now reality. That's what I thought, too! I thought, "Oh, blah, blah, blah! You know they pay these people to say that. Or, its all made up."

Now I'm the one who is all squishy and mushy. I can't help it. SBI saved me. Better yet, they saved my family!

I'm still not someone who is asked to speak at career day, but I think my life's a lot more interesting than it used to be. I like what I'm doing. I'm happier. I'm still at home. For me, it doesn't get any better than that.
